The kind of well-FED that I’m writing about occurs whether physical food is present or not.

Did you hear about the guy who went to the doctor?  He got concerned when the doctor diagnosed him with “Noah Syndrome.”  He felt better when the doctor assured him that there was a cure.  The cure?  “When you sit down to eat, stop taking two of everything!”

It is our goal that you are well-FED this summer.

No, I’m not talking about our church picnic and softball game on Saturday, July 11th.
No, I’m not talking about our ice cream fellowship and business meeting on Sunday, July 19th.
No, I’m not talking about hot dog night at the Ranger game on Wednesday, Aug. 5th.
Those are all good Baptist times — that means that food is involved!  Don’t miss them!

No, the kind of well-FED that I’m writing about occurs whether physical food is present or not.

Our summer Home Bible Studies have the goal of keeping you well-FED.  Please understand this FED to be = Fellowship…Encouragement…Discipleship.  What do these words mean biblically?

Fellowship (koinonia) speaks of a bond of life / sharing that binds believers together.
Encouragement (protrepo) means “to persuade” or “urge forward.”
Discipleship (from mathetes) points to the process of learning and following.

Scripture addresses these concepts over and over again, in passages like these:

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up…  And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.  1Thess.5:11,15

So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.  Rom.14:19And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together…but encouraging one another…  Heb.10:24-25

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.  Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.  Rom.15:1-2

Sign up today for one of our Summer HBS groups — be blessed and be a blessing!    We will meet each Sunday evening, July 26th – Aug.30th.

Looking forward to finishing the summer being well-FED!

Blessings,
Wade
